Should you exercise on your HCG Weight Loss Journey?

As with most things, there are numerous views on whether exercise should be incorporated as part of the HCG weight loss journey.  It is totally possible to lose a significant amount of weight with very little exercise, or even no exercise at all. In fact, it is often recommended that once should not exercise on the HGC protocol as this is a Low Calorie Diet and your body will be going under a huge transformation and will need all the energy it has.

Now that makes sense, and I certainly agree with what they are saying. I do however feel that light exercise can do no harm. Dr. Simeons himself allowed light exercise such as walking, yoga, pilates and light biking. These types of exercises should only be done at low intensity and for fairly short periods of time.

Why I decided to exercise on my HCG Weight Loss Journey? 

I lost a significant amount of weight in the first 2 weeks of my HCG weight loss journey without exercising, it was like heaven – just follow the steps and lose weight. Week 3 came along and I had hit the dreaded plateau, my weight was hardly budging. Now anyone who has experienced a plateau while losing weight will know how demotivating this can be. After years of trying to lose weight I haven’t exactly set a very good example to my metabolism so it no wonder that this plateau arrived as soon as it did. I do believe in creating a balance and exercising at least 3-4 times a week seems like a pretty good balance regardless of whether I am on a diet or not.

Exercise is known to increase the metabolism, so there is no doubt in my mind that continuing with the HCG protocol and exercising on a regular basis will in fact push me past this plateau.

To conclude, should you exercise on your HCG Weight Loss Journey?

I think this is something you will personally have to decide for yourself. You know your body better than anyone else, if you feel you have enough energy to hit the gym 3-4 times a week then go for it. If you are someone who is relatively fit and enjoys exercising, don’t stop! If you are losing weight without having hit a plateau and don’t feel the need to exercise, then don’t. However when it comes to maintaining your goal weight I certainly do feel that exercise is an absolute must. The benefits far out weigh the negatives.
